The film was released on October 21 and has been doing exceptionally well in the theaters. In a gesture of gratitude, the producer presented the director with the car.

It is expected to cross the Rs 100-crore mark. The movie also stars Chunky Panday, Laila, Rajishy Vijayan, and Raashi Khanna. A sequel to Sardar is in the works, which will feature Karthi in the role of a spy. The film will be set in Cambodia.
